Delete Your FindLove Account and Data

Websites: https://www.findlove.lk and https://match.findlove.lk

Mobile app: FindLove for Android and iOS

This page explains how to ask FindLove to delete your account and the information linked to it, what we delete, what we keep and for how long. You can make a request without signing in or installing the FindLove app. Our Privacy Policy gives the full detail.

FindLove is free to use, and deleting your account is free too: no payment is needed.

01

Who operates FindLove

FindLove is currently operated by Mohamed Ziyan Junaideen, an individual based in Sri Lanka. Deletion and privacy requests go to legal@findlove.lk.

02

How to request account deletion

  1. Choose Delete account in your website account settings, on the app's Profile screen, or in Legal and support. Without the app or access to sign-in, start account deletion on our website.
  2. Request a verification code. If you are signed in, it is sent to that account's registered email. Otherwise, enter the registered email address. You do not need to compose an email, accept updated policies, or upload a new identity document. This route also works for paused, banned or archived profiles and banned accounts.
  3. Enter the latest 8-digit code in the app or website where you requested it. A code expires 15 minutes after the request and allows five attempts. Email requests are rate limited; if no email arrives, wait two minutes before requesting again. Receiving a code does not delete account data.
  4. Read the consequences, select the explicit confirmation checkbox, and choose Permanently delete account. You can cancel before confirmation and keep your account.
  5. The server verifies the code and automatically erases your account and every owned profile from active service records. The result confirms that account deletion has occurred and explains that stored-file cleanup continues in the background. If the connection fails before you receive the result, retry with the same code while it remains valid; do not assume deletion succeeded from a network error.

If you cannot access your registered email or need help, email legal@findlove.lk as an optional fallback. We verify account ownership proportionately, normally through the registered address or account-holder knowledge, without requiring a new identity-document upload by default. A verified fallback request can be fulfilled by an authorised administrator. Account deletion does not require a ban to be lifted.

Deleting the FindLove app from your phone, signing out, or pausing your profile does not delete your account.

03

How long it takes

We acknowledge requests promptly and complete the deletion within 30 days of confirming that the request comes from the account holder. In the automatic flow, active account records are removed as soon as the server verifies your code and explicit confirmation; there is no waiting period for administrator approval. For a verified fallback request, active records are removed when the administrator fulfils it. Stored files, such as photographs, are then removed by background jobs that normally finish within minutes and retry automatically after a technical failure. If something stops us finishing within 30 days, we will tell you why and when we expect to finish.

04

What we delete

When your account is deleted, we remove the following from FindLove's active systems:

  • Your account details, sign-in methods, two-factor and passkey settings, and your Google sign-in link.
  • Your profile, with its details, preferences, Background and Values answers, saved positions and position history.
  • Your photographs and other stored files.
  • Your matches, friendships, requests, introductions, likes and passes, profile views and blocks.
  • Your conversations. Private messages are deleted for both participants, so the other member also loses the conversation.
  • Reports you made and reports made about you, and the moderation records attached to them.
  • Identity and education verification requests, recorded document details and uploaded documents.
  • Website and app sessions, API keys and saved push-notification registrations, which signs out every device.
  • Notification records, consent and legal acceptance records, referral history, and support conversations linked to your account or registered email.
  • Comments you posted on articles, and any business listings, products, galleries or events you created.

Deleting your account does not delete your Google Account or anything Google holds about you. Manage that in your Google Account settings.

05

What we keep and for how long

We keep a small amount of information after deletion only where it is needed for safety, legal obligations or completing the deletion itself:

  • Safety and legal case evidence. If an administrator approved preserving limited evidence for an investigation before deletion, such as a report snapshot or specifically selected text, it is kept with a record of its approval. Ordinary evidence is erased 365 days after the later of the case being resolved or your account being deleted, or sooner when it is no longer needed. A specific legal obligation can require a longer, explicitly dated period. We do not keep a copy of the whole account or conversation, and preservation never stops an account deletion.
  • Verification document holds. Uploaded verification documents are queued for deletion with the account. A file may be held only under a specific, dated legal preservation requirement, normally for no more than 12 months.
  • Verification and retry receipts. A deletion request temporarily stores the registered email, account reference, protected verification code, attempt count and completion time. The completed receipt clears its account reference and email, and supports safe retries for the rest of the original 15-minute validity period. Expired requests and receipts are automatically removed.
  • Cleanup records. References needed to finish deleting stored files remain only until cleanup succeeds. Records that a verification file was deleted are erased 12 months later.
  • Database backups. Every database backup is deleted within 30 days of being made, so deleted information leaves our backups within 30 days of your account's deletion. We do not use backups to restore deleted member content.
  • Server logs. Logs of requests, sign-in and security events are deleted within 30 days.
  • Error reports. Error reports already sent to our error-monitoring provider, Sentry, are deleted 30 days after they were received.
  • Earlier website analytics. Google Analytics information collected before we retired that integration follows the retention settings of our Google Analytics property, separately from account deletion.

We cannot delete copies outside our control. These include messages or photographs another member has saved, emails and notifications already delivered to you, and records our service providers keep independently under their own retention arrangements, such as notification delivery records held by Google, Apple and Expo.

06

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You can remove some information and keep your account:

  • Delete a profile: on the Profile screen in the app, Delete profile permanently removes that profile, its photographs and its conversations for both participants. Your account stays.
  • Remove photographs: removing a photograph deletes our stored copies and ends any private sharing of it.
  • Clear your saved location: Clear saved location in the app's Discover distance control, or Remove location on the website, deletes the saved position and its history.
  • Remove Background and Values answers: this clears those answers and stops their use, without closing your account.
  • Ask us: email legal@findlove.lk to ask for particular information to be deleted or corrected.

Pausing a profile only hides it from discovery. It keeps all of your information.
